Hello Friends! Since 2023 coming to an end, and I am organizing my files, I realized how many Extended Family Sessions I’ve shot in 2023 and hardly shared any of them. So on this blog post I wanted to put all of them together and tell you a bit about all the sweet families I’ve met and some location ideas for Extended Family Sessions in Columbus, Ohio.
H Family’s Extended Family Session in Humble&Pine Studio in Pataskala.
I’ve been working with Angel’s immediate for years. So when she asked if I could shoot her husband’s extended family, I was honored. It was around Christmas time and given the Ohio weather, they decided to rent a photo studio in Pataskala. We did the session mainly indoor but the forecast was decent that day with a little bit of chiseling so they wanted to go outside too. I love that this studio provides both indoor&outdoor options for shoots, in every season!
T Family’s Extended Family Session in Phoenix, AZ.
Yep you heard that right! I flew to Phoenix to capture Easter gathering of Sally’s Family in spring. How did this happen? Well, if you are following me on Social Media, you may know that I use winter and spring, my slow season, to travel- especially to West. When I shared that I am possibly flying to Sedona in April, Sally- whom I have worked in Columbus before- contacted me and said that they are looking for a photographer to capture their Easter Family Gathering in Phoenix. With the right timing, I combined my trip and had the privilege to shoot in her family in Arizona!
So, if you are ever traveling and looking for a photographer to capture those memories, do not hesitate to ask me. I can use any excuse to travel, while I do the thing I love most doing: photoshoots!
The T Family’s Family Session on their property in Pickerington
Back to Ohio! 🙂 For this session, we used the Gift Certificate that Dorothy bought for her in-laws over the Christmas as a gift. Then when she contacted me to schedule the session in summer, she told me that their property has enough space and asked if I could travel.Of course! That’s one of the good reason of getting an hour session with me, you can pick the location:) We has fun walking around their property and playing in the backyard. I love when everyone goes for the ideas I have and add even more!
Extended Family session during Fall in Highbanks Metro Park
And Fall in Ohio! This family, Elizabeth in particular hired me to capture their combined extended family in Fall. I always do so many different group combinations while shooting extended families, along with posed&candid ones. I wish I could put all in here but just so you know, you will get about 200 photos of your whole family, immediate family, just kids, grandparents with kids, adult siblings, siblings with parents… when you hire me for an extended family session. And this family had no exception!
H Family’s Extended Family session around Thanksgiving, which ended with an amazing surprise!
Misti, again a loyal client and a runner friend contacted with me and said they will be getting all together around Thanksgiving and if I could capture her family. I offered them Humble and Pine as an indoor studio but it was far for everyone so I found Belle Vous Studios in Sunbury. I had seen it before on social media and it lived up to my expectations. We started the shoot with small group this time becauseeeee… keep scrolling!
Annie had a surprise for the family!!!
Annie called me days leading to their session. She said that they are pregnant and asked if I can announce it during the session to capture everyone’s reaction. I had shot many surprise parties or proposals before as seen HERE, but this was a first! So towards the end of the session, I gathered everyone together and told them the surprise. You can see all the precious reactions below; it was so fun but also emotional even for me. So, have any ideas? Do not hesitate to contact me- I will help you plan it for sure 🙂
And the last… S Family’s Christmas Photo Shoot at Everal Barn in Westerville.
Shelly contacted me and said that her daughter and husband is traveling from Seattle. it was right after my busy season, right before Christmas break but I am so glad I could squeeze them in:) We started with some neutral background, so she could use the photos all year long; but ended it with some Christmas props. It was simple, only a 30 minute session, yet effective:) If you don’t have many people, or toddlers in your group, I am ok with a shorter session- never hesitate to ask!
Oh very lastly, A bonus!
Hannah and her siblings booked me last year, to capture their big and joyfully busy extended family. Since some family members were traveling, we picked Kingwood Center Garden in Mansfield. I enjoyed visiting a new space that I’ve always wanted to go while spending time with this sweet crowd. Again, I can travel and customize your session; never a problem!
