As a photographer, who started the career with mainly weddings, I usually get asked if I shoot newborn photo sessions in Columbus area. To be honest, I can shoot any session but I do favor some genres more than others. For newborn photography, first yes I will shoot your new, fresh baby.OMG, what a joy! Your new family dynamic- either we started with your wedding or you came to me while you pregnant, or you just found me… (continuing) to capture your growing family, watch you in every stage of life is such an honor for me!
However, my heart is more set on capturing newborns in their parents’s arms, being held, being soothed. I RESPECT newborn photography in studio setting and have seen amazing results with it! But I just love seeing the connection between a parent and the baby, the shine in parent’s eyes even they are tired. I love including siblings or the family pet. And for all this, I just can’t think of anywhere but the the comfort of your own house!
So, let’s look at different Newborn Photo Session settings I offer:
This is why, you will see that many of my newborn sessions are in-home, lifestyle sessions. To me capturing the stage you are in, in the house you brought your baby to is so special.
But, what if your house is not photo ready? Honestly we can keep it in just one room: the nursery, your bedroom, living room… sometimes even staircases or hallways even create great photos!
If there are siblings, they also feel more relaxed with a shoot in their home. While they are adjusting the new stage, I also find it beneficial to focus on them during the shoot and turn it to ” family sessions” more than just a “newborn session”.
However I definitely know the struggles of keeping a house tidy with a newborn and young siblings. So in this case, if you don’t want the hustle of tidying up, it’s always good to get out of the house and we can always rent a studio for your session. The session below is an example. We rented Sand Rose studio in Delaware for this session and had so much fun!
What about your studio in Downton Delaware, Nursah? Of have you seen my Maternity and Newborn post from previous years? Yes I do have a studio, however I run a different business there and it’s a shared space. So sometimes it can be really tricky to get in for a newborn session. It also have more of a moody vibe. But if you like it, we can certainly skip the studio rental fee and use my studio:)
