Y’all… I have such a funny story to tell about this wedding, so get your drinks ready. I was booked to shoot it 5 days before it’s date LOL.
Last minute wedding bookings happen: photographer gets sick, a family emergency comes and we cover for each other. It was especially very common during covid. But at least the couple knows that they have a photographer and there is a back up plan. Well for this New Year’s Eve Wedding, my contact person was the groom, Luke. Who is a brother of a bride I’ve worked with, whose cousin is also a close friend. When Luke&Laura got engaged, Luke reached out to me for their engagement photos, which is the 1st one on THIS POST. I shot their engagement session and at the time, they had not secure Darby House in Galloway for their wedding yet.
Then I sent their engagement gallery along with my wedding pricing guide. And followed up with them in 2 weeks to see if they have any questions for me. Luke said they are busy with moving but will be in touch soon. This was back in February.
If you know me personally, you may know that I am not a sales person. I love photography and my job as a business but I won’t try to force myself on anyone. So when I didn’t hear back from Luke again, I assumed they moved on.
Fast forward to Dec 26th. One night after Christmas while I am sitting at home, I get a message asking if I need to know the details of their wedding on Saturday. I almost had a heart attack, WHAT WEDDING?! Searched the number, found that it’s Luke. Started looking at my email while my hands are shaking. Did they book me and I forgot the wedding?! Nope… he actually never turned back to me after my last email. And in order for me to be booked, we need a contract, I need a deposit… and we have none in place!
So I called and told him the situation, that I didn’t know I was booked LOL. We had a phone chat about their details and luckily I was available until their reception time due to it being new year’s eve wedding. I found another photographer friend to cover the reception for me. Laura and whole their family was so thankful the whole day that I was able to shoot their New Year’s Eve Wedding at The Darby House. And I was so in love with this sweet couple, with all the colors and details they put together, that I was so glad I was available! This was also my 1st new year’s eve wedding in Columbus and it was so romantic with all the twinkle lights!
It is sure one of those weddings I will hardly forget. Thanks for the memories Luke! And hope you all love the photos below from this New Year’s Eve Wedding at Darby House in Galloway.
